Libéron Superior Danish Oil is a premium blend of pure tung oil and natural oils designed to effectively protect both hard and soft woods. It enhances the natural grain of timber, revealing its beauty while providing a durable satin to gloss sheen. Formulated with added UV filters, it helps prevent discolouration, making it suitable for a wide range of applications, both interior and exterior.

Preparation

Ensure the surface is clean and dry before application. Remove any existing wax or varnish finishes. If desired, stain the wood with Libéron Palette Wood Dye before oiling. For exterior woodwork, remove all decaying timber and greying to prevent potential blackening.

Application

Apply the oil using a brush or a lint-free cotton cloth. Allow it to penetrate the wood for 5 to 10 minutes, then wipe off any excess with a clean lint-free cloth. Allow a minimum of 5 hours drying time between coats. Apply additional coats as required. A minimum of 3 coats is recommended for internal use, and 4 or more for external use or in damp areas such as kitchens and bathrooms. For exterior timber, ensure sufficient coats are applied initially for maximum protection.

Advice and Precautions

• Superior Danish Oil may darken some timbers. Blackening may occur on some external timbers.
• Store at a temperature above 5°C. Always replace the lid tightly to prevent deterioration.
• Caution: Risk of self-combustion. Wet any textiles or tools soiled with the product with water and dispose of them in a tightly closed container.
• Not suitable for external oak. Libéron Pure Tung Oil is recommended for this purpose.
• If the surface becomes sticky due to excess oil not being removed, wipe with white spirit to remove the sticky film and allow to dry before continuing.
• Remove as much oil as possible from tools after use. Do not dispose of residues or washing water/solvents in drains or general waste to avoid environmental discharge.
• Oil finishes bring out the natural colours of timber; a wet surface will indicate the final colour. Always test on a spare or inconspicuous area for colour, compatibility, and end result.

Maintenance

Surfaces can be cleaned with a damp cloth, and spills should be wiped up immediately. Re-oiling is recommended once a year, or more frequently depending on usage.
