Important Notes on Drive Removal

To prevent data loss, it is crucial to properly remove the drive from your computer.

Removing from a Windows Computer:

Use the Windows Safely Remove Hardware program. Double-click the Safely Remove icon in the System Tray (may be hidden under the up arrow). Select the drive you wish to remove, click 'Stop', confirm the device, and click 'OK'. A notification will appear when it is safe to remove the drive.

If the drive is reported as busy, try removing it again. If issues persist, shut down your computer and then disconnect the external drive.

Removing from a Mac Computer:

Drag the drive icon from your desktop to the Trash Can to unmount it. Wait a few seconds after the drive icon disappears and the activity light is off before safely removing the drive.
